Perioperative Services

Who We Are

Perioperative care is the care given before and after a surgical event. It commonly includes admission, anesthesia, surgery, and recovery. While the Perioperative medical staff is caring for the surgical patients, the volunteers are caring for the patient's waiting family and friends.

Perioperative unit is closed the following Holidays:  Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.

What We Do

Volunteers provide support to families and friends waiting for patients in surgery, and also serve as a liaison between families, surgical staff, and physicians. Volunteers escort family members and friends to visit patients once they are out of surgery and have been assigned a Perioperative room. Volunteers should also be familiar with wayfinding, as many family members will need assistance locating the cafeteria, pharmacy, and gift shop.
